Sotheby’s recently sold a painting by graffiti artist Banksy for $1.4 million. While th e peice was only a copy of the artist’s original, ”Girl with Balloon”, seconds after the gavel fell, the painting self-destructed, shredding itself while the crowd stood shocked.

Banksy explained that he had secretly installed a shredder in the frame of the painting to destroy it if it ever went up for auction, quoting artist Picasso in an Instagram post: “the urge to destroy is also a creative urge.”

Banksy strikes again.
